There’s not a whole lot written about Caroline Quiner Ingalls, the mother of famed Little House on the Prairie author, Laura Ingalls Wilder.
And I always wondered why.
So I set about looking for her. . .in family letters, bits of biography and, mostly, through the words she spoke throughout the Little House series.
The Ma I thought I’d find wasn’t the one I discovered.
Would you like to meet her?
I think you’ll be happy that you did.

I learned a few facts about Ma's early history, but mostly this reads like a high school research paper: full of conjecture and very repetitious. The egregious lack of editing distracts from what flow there is. Grammar is appalling, just stream-of-consciousness blogspeak.Product details

From the Mouth of Ma A Search for Caroline Quiner Ingalls eBook Robynne Elizabeth Miller Reviews
Although interesting, it read like someone's term paper. I think if you love the history, you might be interested.
I bought this edition after reading the author's "Three Faces of Nellie," which I found interesting and worth adding to my collection. But this volume was extremely disappointing. Unlike the work on the three women who comprised the character of Nellie Oleson, this work contained no new information on Ma, her life, or her character. It is a rather self-indulgent immersion in the author's own opinions and analyses of Ma's various phrases and actions. I found it trite and uninspired. And I was left with the feeling that the author often misunderstood the character of Ma and the time period in which she lived. Very disappointing and nothing new.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed by this book. It simply reiterated some sayings from the Little House books where as I thought there would be actual new historical facts.
It's obvious this writer didn't like Carolyn Ingalls and didn't really get to know her subject. I thought the book was very flat and one dimensional.
I think it is poorly written with very little interesting information. I would not recommend it.
I was excited to get this book since I have read The Little House series many times. I expected more information than what was already in the series, but all it was was a collection of her commonly said phrases. It was like reading a middle school essay. Only buy if you haven't read the series. If you've read the series, don't bother.
I was hoping for something a little deeper, maybe a history of the proverbs and sayings or some insight into Ma's character. This was very superficial and didn't really do anything except to catalog most of the sayings that Laura records Ma as having said to her daughters.
I learned a few facts about Ma's early history, but mostly this reads like a high school research paper full of conjecture and very repetitious. The egregious lack of editing distracts from what flow there is. Grammar is appalling, just stream-of-consciousness blogspeak.
